I am Mona, a Spider Monkey from the Northwest jungles of Costa Rica. My name is a Spanish word for a female monkey. Quite often I would swing in the trees surrounding the Ocotal Beach Resort set along the Northwest coast of Costa Rica by the Pacific Ocean. I would watch the tourists as the played on the beach. I even traveled inland and watched them swing from the trees on what they call a Canopy Tour in Monteverde, Costa Rica. Since I am a frugivor (an animal who primarily eats fruit) I was intrigued by a group of people who arrived at the hotel in the spring of 1989. They ate only fruits and vegetables. I heard them talk amongst themselves. They talked about the food they were eating and where they lived. Most were from California, but many were from various places in the United States. Since I knew these people ate fruit I knew I too could find fruits to eat in California. As one couple turned their backs while packing to go home, I hopped into one of their carry on bags. Then is when my adventure began.
Living with Mike and Cindy is exciting. They fulfill my curiosity with adventures and fill my stomach with vegan foods. Come with me on my journeys through life by reading my blog. I will tell you where I have been and what I have learned on my journeys through life.
