Juice It To Lose It

Losing those extra pounds to embrace a healthier lifestyle requires a lot of determination and dedication on your part. However, it isn’t the determination alone that will grant you that fit and lean body that you’ve always dreamed of. That’s where your diet comes in. Juices, in particular, have been a hot favorite amongst those who are looking to shed some weight the healthier way.

As it turns out, drinking your fruits and vegetables, instead of eating them, just might be what your body needs to lose weight. Cindy at VeggieSensations.com said "You can either juice or blend your fruits and vegetables to get the most nutrients from your produce. Juicing removes most or all of the pulp and blending gives you all the juice and fiber to aid in digestion". Here are some recipes that you should add to your diet plan. So, get that juicer or blender out, and let the juicing begin!

Recipe # 1: Tomato and Cucumber Juice

What You Need:

  • 4 cups tomatoes
  • 2 ½ cups of cucumber chunks
  • 1 stalk celery
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon of sugar or stevia

Add all the vegetables into the blender and process it completely or run them through a masticating or centrifugal juicer. Only once the contents are completely blended or juiced you should add the ground pepper. The amount of sugar or stevia that you add will depend on your preference of sweetness. However, since this is a diet regime, the lesser the sugar, the fewer the calories. If you’re feeling really motivated, skip the sugar altogether! The tomatoes will ensure that your juice isn’t all that bland. Finally, garnish it with some mint leaves.

Recipe # 2: Collard Juice

Wondering why these broad, dark green leaves made our list? Not only are these rich in calcium, collards are a low-calorie, low-fat source of nutrition. A small 2-ounce serving of the green contains only 20 calories. The sugar content is also very little, with roughly around 0.3 grams of sugar per 2-ounce serving.

What You Need:

  • 2 dark and fresh collard leaves
  • 3 medium apples
  • ½ medium cucumber
  • 2 stalks celery
  • One half of a lemon, squeeze the juice
  • One half medium lime, squeeze the juice

Add all the ingredients together in the juicer or blender; add some water – approximately half a glass – and process until it’s totally juiced or blended.

Recipe # 3: Green Juice

Going green is perhaps the healthiest and fastest way to lose weight.

What You Need:

  • 1 cup kale
  • ½ a cucumber
  • 1 stalk celery
  • Grapes (depending on the level of sweetness)
  • 1/2 medium lemon, peeled

As you can see there’s a pretty standard set of ingredients of green – with a small level of grapes just to add to the sweetness. For this recipe, you will need a juicer, not a blender. This is because only with a juicer will you be able to get rid of the pulp, and get a concentrated juice that is high in nutrition.

These are just some of the weight loss juices that you can incorporate in your diet. However, please ensure that you are consuming these beverages along with your meals, and not in isolation.
