Haitian Blue Mountain Organic Coffee - Direct Trade

This Organic Haitian Blue Mountain Coffee is 100% Arabica beans that are purchased by direct trade. We buy directly from a collective of 3 farms in Haiti. These small co-op farms are located in the Haiti Nord region.

The beans are grown at the elevation of 3900 feet above sea level.

This Haitian Organic coffee goes through a washing process and is air dried on a patio.

Flavor and Roast

The Haitian Blue Mountain Organic Coffee has a medium-light roast with low acidity. It has a medium complexity with a creamy, mellow body and prominent nutty flavors like almonds. You will enjoy the buttery mouth feel. This is a low acidity coffee with a sweet finish.

Where it is Grown

About the farmers:
Joel and his wife are the owners of a 2 acre farm on the outside of Dondon Haiti. Seventy-five percent of their land is covered in coffee trees. Joel also works on a local coffee tree nursery. He tends and manages the coffee tree seedlings. The sale of his coffee allows Joel to employ 3 people on his farm and he is working towards owning his own nursery.

Pierre owns a 2 acre farm. Prior to joining the co-op, he was unemployed. Now, he owns his farm and is one of the hardest working people in the group. Because of the Direct Trade program Pierre is able to provide his family a stable and secure life.

Francis once was a physics professor in Port Au Prince, Haiti. After he finished school in Miami, moved back to Haiti to use his skills and knowledge to help other people create a sustainable business for themselves. He now is the president of the coffee farmers co-op and runs the co-op's "Own a Tree" Program. This program donates coffee trees to help other people start their own coffee farm.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much is shipping?

All of our coffees ship with a flat $9.95 shipping no matter how many different flavors, varieties or pounds you buy at one time that are shipped to one address. So pull your friends together and place one order for everyone to save on shipping per person. For an example, ten people ordering one bag of coffee each in one order going to one address will cost less than a $1.00 per person for the shipping.

When is my coffee roasted?

We roast your coffee after we receive your order to insure you receive the freshest coffee possible. We do not roast coffee on Saturday or Sunday, so coffee orders received Friday will be roasted on Monday. We ship your coffee via FedEx the day after it has been roasted. We do not ship coffee to a P.O. Box.  We will email the tracking number to you once we receive it from our roaster.

Can I store my coffee in the bag it came in?

You will receive your coffee in a sealed bag with a one way valve. The valve is important because coffee releases gases for about 3 days after it has been roasted. These gasses need to escape the bag. You can store your coffee in the same bag if you seal the bag closed tightly and use the whole bag with in one week. If you purchase more coffee than you will use in one week, we suggest you read our article on "How to Store Coffee" for more suggestions.
